That’s right, Verizon Wireless, is now the largest wireless carrier in the United States, since it has completed it’s $28.1 billion purchase of Alltel.
Back in June, Verizon announced its plans to buy the company for $5.9 billion in equity while assuming $22.2 billion in the company’s debt. Then things happened between a unit of Goldman Sachs and Alltel, completing the sale price for Verizon.
At the moment, Verizon now has over 83.7 million users. The company’s newest customers are coming from the Midwest and South, where Alltel is most commonly used.
Also, Verizon will be changing Alltel’s plans and other important factors to their own, traditional Verizon substitutes.
Since it’s going to take Verizon months to integrate network operations and custom billing systems, Alltel customers won’t be able to receive support from Alltel stores and vice versus.
Other changes are still expected to occur, as the sale was completed today.
