As an amateur photographer, I spend a fair share of my time manipulating photos and converting them from RAW to jpeg on Adobe Lightroom. As soon as you are done with a photo shoot, you will have hundreds of photos to touch up in very limited time, and keyboard shortcuts can really bump up your productivity and speed up your workflow. Lightroom has a ton of keyboard shortcuts, but I’m only going to mention a few easy to remember keyboard shortcuts, which will also help you, eliminate distractions from your screen when you don’t need panels. Library Mode: L – Light out mode. Pressing L once dims the background panels, pressing it twice turns the lights out totally and makes the background black. C – Compare Mode. Helps you compare your photo’s original and modified version. You can use this feature to compare one photo with another one. 1 to 5 numbers – Pressing 1 to 5 in your keyboard will give appropriate star rating to your photos. Helpful, if you need to rate your pictures for quick look up in future. F2 – Quickly rename your photo Control + E – Edits your photo in Photoshop Shift + Tab – Enable/Disable panels in Lightroom. Very handy if you have a small screen or if you want to preview your image without any clutter (goes very well with lights out shortcut key) Develop Mode: Please note that most keyboard shortcuts for Library Mode also works for Develop Mode. Some Develop Mode specific keyboard shortcuts: Control + U – Auto tones your photo Control + Shift + U – Auto white balance for your photo Control + Shift + C – Copy develop settings of the given image Control + Shift + V – Pastes the develop settings from the previously copied settings. These copy/paste keyboard shortcuts are very helpful, if you need to tweak handful of photos, and you are not ready to make a preset out of these settings yet. R – Toggles Crop Mode on Q – Shortcut for Spot Removal Tool M – Graduated filter tool K – Adjustment Brush tool O – Reveals Mask while using Adjustment Brush Tool I normally don’t use the Print Mode in Lightroom, so I didn’t include the keyboard shortcuts for Print Mode. If you do use Print Mode, check out the extended version of Lightroom Keyboard Shortcuts published by Adobe. You may also consider printing it out, and sticking it near your desk for quick reference. It’s a good way to start with keyboard shortcuts. Do you use any other keyboard shortcuts with Lightroom? We would love to hear, drop a comment here or talk to us on Twitter .
With Sony still recovering from massive amounts of online customer information being stolen and companies like Apple accused of Orwellian insertion of tracking programs, the topic of computer forensics has perhaps never been hotter. The amount of cyber crime and corporate hijinks surrounding our private information is staggering. People are desperate for any indication that there exists a way to thwart these efforts in the form of state-of-art CSI-style online and further computer investigation. It’s an exciting concept, but the digital age is still in its infancy, and thus so is the science behind catching those who commit criminal behavior through a computer. After developing a thorough understanding of how digital investigations work on TV crime drama, where they’re solved in an hour, many folks are shocked to discover how it works in the real world. For instance you might find it interesting to know that just a few months ago British investigators cracked a case involving online criminal activity by sifting through the suspect’s smart phone and finding Google analytics that had kept track of the time but also the words used in the search engine to find the sites in question. Criminal investigators are uncovering the secret super-data collection committed by search engine moguls and finding enough evidence from these collections to make arrests and even convictions. This case demonstrates the enormous implications of what digital tidbits can ultimately say about us to others. But it also highlights the importance for there to be responsibility on the part of those who investigate these things, who are an ever growing necessity in a world where computer crime costs U.S. businesses nearly 70 billion a year. As much as we need talented individuals who can detect and ultimately prevent the massive swaths of crime the internet brings our way, we also need measures to prevent these methods of investigation from getting out of hand. If all it takes is for law enforcement to piggy back on the profit-driven tactics of search engine analytics to develop a reliable means to track crime, are any of us immune from such invasive investigating if no laws exist to prevent it? Sony can employ an army of investigators to find those responsible for breaking into their MMO databanks, so I’m not particularly worried about them fixing their image. I do feel bad for the several thousand people who’s personal information was stolen, but in the world of computer crime, especially to do with identity theft, consolation is hard to come by and restitution even harder. Once we figure out clever ways to catch these crooks, deciding how to go about returning or providing what was stolen will be the second tier of challenge we’ll be forced to overcome. Do we have cyber investigation figured out? Hardly. To put some perspective on it, imagine we’re in the days before finger print identification, trying to catch a killer. Unless you can catch the action in progress, it’s hard to prove it. But it’s kind of like we just figured out the fingerprints thing. Before you know it we’ll have databases and extensive files that will make it a million times easier to catch computer crime. Just make sure you don’t end up on these databases because Google makes you look suspicious.
The Apple iPhone 4 has been exclusively available on AT&T and much recently on Verizon. But how cool would it be if T-Mobile US got the iPhone 4 as well? Well, that seems likely now with a prototype white iPhone 4 being caught running on T-Mobile US’ AWS frequencies. Also to be noted is the model number of the device. Well, this particular device has a model number of N94, as compared to AT&T’s N90 and Verizon’s N92. The device is seen running a test version of iOS with apps like Apple Employee Directory and the proximity sensor seen on this device is a bit different than the one expected on the white iPhone 4 launching at the end of this month. This of course could mean that T-Mobile users can see the iPhone 4 coming to their network soon. But we think the timing of this could’ve been a tad better. Because by the time the iPhone 4 would reach T-Mo users, the latest iPhone would already be in the market. So that could make this seem a bit dull. But that’s for them to decide. It is not clear yet whether the tests happened before the merger, well if that’s the case users will have to wait till the merger is completed. [ Source ] Stories you may like: Korean Sources Claim that the iPhone 5 will be Launched in Late June iPhone Responsible for 50% of Apple’s Revenue Apple Doubles Storage on iPhone and iPod Touch

LG currently rank number 3 in terms of sales and market share. But they’ve set a target of selling 150 million phones this year. How do they plan on achieving this ? Well, the company plans on launching 20 new smartphones this year worldwide, expanding their R&D team and hiring more than 6000 new employees. The President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile said – “We are already focusing all of our resources on delivering the widest variety of smart devices for all types of customers. This will be a critical year for LG and a lot of eyes are upon us to see if we’ll succeed. We don’t intend to let them down.” New releases from LG have already made a mark on the minds of the people, especially the Optimus 3D. So it shouldn’t be hard to achieve this goal, but having said that, companies like Samsung, Sony Ericsson will provide healthy competition and give LG a run for their money.
Google have an Android event coming up on Wednesday, where important Honeycomb announcements could be made. Amidst all the hype, the folks at Engadget have received a tip yesterday which showed them how to change the default WXGA resolution of a tablet (1024 x 768) to a WVGA resolution of a cell phone, with a Honeycomb emulator using SDK. The one thing that stands out after the emulation is the home screen UI. While the Gingerbread had a green/black status bar, this emulator shows us a white status bar. It could be a minor flaw or maybe that’s the way it is. With this, we wonder if Google could come out of its way to make Honeycomb run on cellphones too since Honeycomb was supposed to be their first tablet oriented OS. via Engadget © Chethan for TechBuzz , 2011. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us Post tags: Feed enhanced by Better Feed from Ozh

Verizon who were the top carrier in the country with most number of connections have now been dethroned by AT&T. AT&T added 2.8 million customers after which they regained the top spot with 95.5 million customers, compared to Verizon’s 94.1 million customers. Verizon came on top 2 years ago after acquiring Alltel. Even though AT&T had the exclusivity to sell the iPhone, they had not been able to come close to Verizon’s number. But due to high sales in the previous quarter, AT&T finally go past Verizon’s number. But with the Verizon iPhone launching in two weeks, its hard to say if AT&T will be able to maintain the lead. It could only be a matter of time before Verizon regains the top spot again. via Slashgear © Chethan for TechBuzz , 2011. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us Post tags: Feed enhanced by Better Feed from Ozh
