Just about a month ago, Facebook reported statistics showing it was up to 150 million active members. Today, Facebook released its updated stats, displaying its now 175 million active users.
Most of the site’s users are from regions outside of the United States.
Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, reported that there are users from every continent, including Antarctica. Theoretically, if Facebook were a nation, it would have the eighth highest population in the world.
Server space for all of these users and their preferences is definitely very costly, which is why the company has begun to raise a ton of venture capital. Facebook has stated that they’re in good financial standing as well.
But is this site growing faster than expected? Yes. How will they raise enough capital to pay for their server expenses? The answer is not known.
