Facebook Growing Like Wildfire

The not-so-aged site, Facebook.com, just released its updated stats this week (you can view them at http://www.facebook.com/press/info.php?statistics). The updated report shows the site now has 140 million active users. That means the site is getting around 500,000 new users per day on average. That’s double than what the Facebook team was expecting.

While Facebook only has about 47-50 million U.S. users (MySpace holds 60 million), the site is growing increasingly popular overseas.

But can the company handle all these new members? Facebook has raked in substantial amounts of venture capital and is still looking for more. They say they’re on good financial grounds, but we’ll have to see what the future has to hold.
