The iPhone 3G, released in July, has been the best selling phone in the United States. As most of you know it costs $200 dollars and must be signed with a 24 month service agreement with ATT. Also, don’t forget the data plan which will cost you an extra 30 bucks per month. Over a range of 2 years you will spend around 1000 dollars just for your iPhone.
When cost is not an issue, you are looking at a phone which has a million creative applications and uses. You will never get bored of using your iPhone. Usually I have my 3G network working when I go places, but occasionally I get the Edge network which is a nightmare to deal with. If I try to watch a video on Youtube, via the E network, load times take up to 3 minutes, but the good thing is while on 3G it takes more like 30 seconds to download the video. Great idea to offer 3G on these phones!!!
Some interesting applications I recommend for every iPhone:
Shazam: This is the most intriguing and amazing of the iPhone apps, just put your phone near any song or medley and it will tell you the song title, artist name and album. It’s great for any song you always wanted to know the name of. Another great part of Shazam is that you can easily play the song again through your iPhone with one click.
A4 challenge: For all you car lovers, this is a fun app to play while you are on the go. It is kind of challenging yet you get to virtually drive one of the nicest cars in the market. (No, I do not work for Audi.)
Cube Runner: Every single person that I know who has an iPhone has this fun game on their phone. Just guide yourself through the maze and it is not as easy as it sounds.
Apple offers a lot more applications which are great for business, finance, plain fun and also education. Another great feature on the phone is the ability to download applications right from the phone itself.
I would recommend the 8GB iPhone over the 16 GB for one reason, you don’t need that much space for music. Youtube is accessible with the touch of a button. Personally, I don’t have a single song on my iPhone. The phone works great though it does lag once in a while or freezes, forcing me to reset the whole phone which takes 10 seconds. Also Apple could improve on the sound quality of the external speakers for audio. Also make sure you get a case for the phone. I know the phone itself looks great without a case and is all shiny but its worth the money.
Bottom Line: Go buy one if you do not have one.
